ACUPRESSURE  (sorry, at this time we do not offer acupressure sessions)

Basically, acupressure is a relaxation method which helps release physical and emotional tension, relieve stress, trauma, and pain, and attain a more joyful life. During a session, direct, firm but gentle fingertip pressure is applied to the client who is fully clothed and lying down on a massage table. Acupoints are held approximately one to three minutes or until there is a softening of the muscle tension, and the flow of energy (chi) is felt. At first , it is recommended that you have three appointments in regular increments to open energy blocks and maintain a healthy flow. Symptoms will be relieved and stress reduced. As trust and safety develop, you will have opportunities to feel old blocked emotions which are the root of holding patterns of stress, tension, and dis-ease. Regular Acupressure sessions will enhance your body-mind connection, well-being can be maintained, and stress and tension may change into self-love and self-care.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Massage is truly awesome experience of the power of human touch. Imagine receiving an hour or so of relaxing, soothing massage with soft music and natural sounds lulling away the stress of the day.  Our Swedish Massage is our most popular service and is the best for gift certificates, also!

You will receive your massage in a private massage room on a comfortable massage table which has sheets and a blanket which keep you warm and tucked in.  You have the choice to get totally undressed or you can leave your underpants/shorts on.  You are ALWAYS securely covered up for privacy and warmth.

The massage begins at your head, gently massaging your scalp and face.  The massage then moves on to your shoulders, arms, hands, then to your legs, feet and toes.  Half-way through, you will turn over to your tummy and place your face in the face rest.  Once again you are warmly and securely covered and the massage resumes at your feet, then your legs, and your back, low back, shoulders, and neck.  Your gluts (rear muscles) are optional, but are encouraged since so much stress is held in our hip area.

Receiving regular massage will enhance awareness of your body and allow you to minimize stress and tension, while improving your physical
and mental well-being.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is a form of massage, which utilizes specific strokes and stretches to help obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning with less chance of injury or pain. It helps to obtain maximum conditioning by increasing power, endurance and flexibility both before and after an event or work out.  Sports massage can accelerate the healing process, increase range of motion, and reduce swelling, bruising, pain and adhesions.  Areas of stress in other muscles, created through compensating for an injury, can be eased with a regular sports massage regimen. Sports massage can partially compensate for a lack of exercise during inactivity while recovering from injury. Sports massage is also used to relieve muscular spasms and fatigue-related injuries.

<>HOT STONE MASSAGE

Imagine lying on a table of warmed stones beneath you and tucked around your sides, nestled between your toes, and resting on various points of your body and in your palms.

The warmth of the stones deeply relaxes your entire body, including your conscious mind, creating a dream-like state of awareness which allows your body and mind to communicate in a stress-free and thought-free manner. This integrates your spirit --or soul-- and can open a whole new world of awareness and understanding for your day-to-day life.

The hot stones increase blood flow, and the cold stones flush blood out. The final application of hot stones returns fresh, nutrient-rich blood creating the most beneficial healing environment possible. Stones are also tapped directly on tight muscles to act as a type of ultrasound to release muscular knots and tension.

Shamans, medicine people and spiritual healers from all over the world use stones and crystals in their healing ceremonies. Native Americans today still use heated stones in their sweatlodges, as well as sun-heated stones on the belly of a women experiencing menstrual discomfort. In the Sioux Indian tradition, boys going through manhood would lay on a hard rock and put smooth stones between his toes to teach him the difference between hard and soft, female and male, and as a beginning of understanding how important it is to balance one's life.

In Hawaii, the Kahunas use lava stones wrapped in a ki leaf in their healing treatments. Lava stones were also used to build altars for religious or magical practices. The lava stone represents healing and protection. In China, the use of heated stones to relieve tired muscles dates back to before the Shang Dynasty. In the Cowboy days, it was common to heat stones in the fire and place them on the ground under their bedding.

Not only did the stone's heat keep them warm at night, the stones were more giving to their body than was the earth. It is also known that an order of Japanese monks placed heated stones in their sashes to keep their abdomens warm after a meal.
